On July 4th in a small town in rural America a drive in theater showed the James Cagney movie “Yankee Doodle Dandy” against a backdrop of spectacular fireworks.
Families came in the cars of the times including Chevys and Fords. The stars and stripes was proudly flown above the land they loved. Many of these same people had given their lives and hearts in World War II. They pledged their honor and courage to protect and serve America.
They believed in the America of patriotism, apple pie, baseball, drive in movies, fireworks, and cars. Life was simpler then with less distractions, and more gratitude and respect for people and country.
Let us continue to give America the respect it deserves.
