Thoughts While Creating
On a dark and peaceful night the train came to a stop.
The soldier, returning from the war, was sitting at the counter drinking a cup of coffee when the train’s horn blast split the night. Looking up he saw the train engineer enter the doorway and speak to the owner. The engineer nodded to the soldier and then took his seat at the counter to take a moment to clear his head from the long journey.
The soldier upon hearing what the train was transporting immediately stood up and went outside where he assumed the position of honor and reverence. His eyes welled up with tears for every brother or sister that he had served with that would never return to the warmth of their home.
When the engineer went back outside to continue the journey home for many, he watched in his mirror as the soldier continued to hold the salute until the train was out of sight.
